Missions Gathering on Sanibel Island - January 10, 2004
by Chris Jorgensen
What a joy it was to have the above three brothers and sister in our home here on Sanibel over the weekend of January l0th -- plus others who were led to come and share fellowship around our table!
There were prayer and laughter, prayer and exchanged information, prayer and love abounding among us, as well as all the congregation, community and other missionaries who participated in this highlight of Sanibel Community Church's year. We could sense the presence of the Holy Spirit throughout this time, and beyond.
Africa International Christian Mission was a vital part of this event. Many expressed a new or deepened desire to support their growing number of orphans as well as other aspects of their ministry. Literature was requested, and it was great to be able to see a video of Brother Massey's visit to Liberia where he took priceless video footage of the children, staff, families and facilities.
How great is the need there, and we can see now with added clarity how faithful AICM's workers are to supply every need, trusting hourly in God's riches in glory through Christ Jesus and His compassionate Body. I wish you were all close enough to hug Pastor & Esther and all involved with God's own vision for the Liberian people.
I'm so glad I met them 4 years ago, and that the Lord drew me early into the mission of AICM. They are wonderful proof of the prophecy in Isaiah 60:l-2, that we who know Jesus would truly "arise and shine" in the midst of so very much darkness covering this earth. My heart-prayer is that we believers in industrial nations would FEEL what it is like to be famished for the saving Word of God, famished for the basic food, clothing & education we take for granted. I pray that we would willingly shed more and more of what is unessential so that those who are dying spiritually and physically will be literally saved and sustained. We are ONE FAMILY.
“Religion that God our Father accept as pure and faultless is this: To look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27
AICM supports orphaned children through its member churches. At this time, we are sponsoring 450 children in Liberia. The same problems ravage rural and urban areas in surrounding nations as well. We want to assist them with needed supplies and other resources needed to open and survive.
A cardinal objective of AICM is to promote ministerial and theological education throughout our continent. Thus, we are involved in the operation of Liberty Theological Seminary in Liberia.
AICM also provides scholarships for students pursuing degrees in both Christian and higher theological education in Liberia.
Bible Conferences, Crusades, Mission Outreaches and Revivals
With your help, AICM can provide support for much needed events for the spiritual and practical enrichment of every Christian.
For an excellent overview of AICM's ministry, or to meet a child, student, missionary or pastor you have come to know and love, why not join one of our mission trips to Africa?
